In like a lion, out like a lamb. Traditionally, that’s our expectation for the month of March. Hi, I’m Tom Ellsworth from Sherwood Oaks Christian Church with a minute message.

I don’t know how accurate the old proverb really is, but supposedly, if March arrives full of fury, it will peacefully surrender to April. I hope that scenario holds true this year, since March began with a winter roar. But, honestly, no one knows what this third month of the year is going to bring from start to finish.

The lion and lamb are creatures of contrast – one represents forcefulness, the other gentleness. One is known as a king, the other as a sacrifice. One is greatly feared, the other is greatly adored. Ironically, though opposite in nearly every way, the two are frequently pictured together. The Bible speaks of the shepherd who protects his lambs from the roaring lions. Better yet, it speaks of a peaceful time and place where someday the lion will lie down with the lamb. March weather in Indiana is always unpredictable – so is life. Therefore we need to trust the One who never changes, who in Scripture is called both the Lion of Judah and the Lamb of God.
