If you worry, are you trusting God?

Worry is sin of not trusting God to take care of you, and we cannot rest with worry.

I had a woman who once came to me and asked for me to pray for her. I asked her what she would like for me to pray for. She said would you please pray that the man I am dating will leave his wife and marry me? This was a clear case of someone who just wants benefits from God, without knowing Him. She’s never going to enter into a sabbath rest because she will never get what she wants. Someone to love her, someone that will help her, encourage her, and someone that will help bring out the very things God created in her. Her heart focus and heart's delight are on all the wrong things.

I told her I didn’t need to ask God about this. I already knew the answer. The answer was to get to know Him and leave this husband alone. That isn’t what she wanted so she did not get what she thought she deserved so she went away, discouraged, frustrated, and sad. This is pretty much how her life ended 20 years later.

When you know God, you know what He has planned for you is greater than anything you could possibly dream up. You can rest in this by knowing as you pray about things He is working out, taking care of, and making sure that you are receiving the blessings He has planned for you. And the ultimate blessing is eternal life with Him.
