Our Suffering Can Be Used for Good

Most topics remind me of a song, and most are by John Mark McMillan. Suffering is no different. Lyrics to one of his songs say, “Well, I've got no answers for heartbreaks or cancers but a savior who suffers them with me. Singing goodbye, Olympus, the heart of my Maker is spread out on the road, the rocks, and the weeds.” It is truly difficult to understand suffering, especially when you are in the middle of it yourself. We might not have answers to the sufferings of this world, but we do have Jesus, who came to spend life here with the sick and sinful. He then suffered the ultimate sacrifice as he was put to death on a cross. Our sins were buried with Him so we could have eternal life. Yes, we have pain and sadness right now and it doesn’t always make sense, but unlike other gods we might put our faith in, the one true God gave us a hope for a future where we are free from turmoil.

If you find yourself suffering, talk to God! Use this time to grow in your relationship with Him and look for ways to use your suffering to help others who may be going through similar situations. Our suffering can be used for good. Show people how God has used the world’s devastation to bring inspiration.
