Receiving End Of Forgiveness

The more I have thought about the idea of restoring a relationship by the power of confession, the more I have thought about how it is possible the person on the receiving end of forgiveness may not be ready to forgive. That’s really hard to think about. To turn over everything to God, repent, and ask for forgiveness, just to be told (maybe in words, maybe not) that they cannot yet accept your forgiveness.

James 5:16 tells us: Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

This scripture helps us understand the power of confessing the harm we may have caused. When we repent, pray to God, and offer forgiveness, we are allowing ourselves true healing. The person we conflict with may just need some time to heal as well. Don’t lose hope, don’t lose heart; you’re on your way to healing and freedom.
