Rock bottom or bedrock?

Jul 20, 2023

When J.K Rowling finished writing the first novel of Harry Potter it was rejected by twelve publishers and considered a failure. The author went on to say “Rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I re-built my life.”

Hi, I’m Maggie Mobley from Sherwood Oaks Christian Church with a Minute Message.

Have you ever felt like you’re at rock bottom? Or like something in your life has snowballed out of control? Most of us can recall a time in our life when we weren’t sure what would happen next, or how we would move forward. Even when we feel like we’re out of control and can’t find a way out, God is with us.

Deuteronomy 31:8 says “It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

What a comforting thought that even at rock bottom God is with us. Pastor Shawn Green reminded us that our failure doesn’t have the final word. But God’s grace does.

JK Rowling’s novels have sold over 600 million copies and went on to be the best selling series of all time. A book that was written during a time at rock bottom. Don’t be afraid of failure. Just remember that the Lord goes before you and his grace has the final word!
