The Fruit of the Spirit is Not a Coconut

My daughter learned this song last year at preschool and we still sing it often.
Here are some of the lyrics:
“The Fruit of the Spirit's not a coconut
The Fruit of the Spirit's not a coconut
If you want to be a coconut You might as well hear it: You can't be a fruit of the Spirit
Cause the fruit is Love, joy, peace, patience Kindness, goodness, faithfulness Gentleness and self-control”

And the song goes on to say the fruit of the Spirit is also not a watermelon, lemon, cherry, or grapes. It’s a silly song but is a good reminder – for kids and adults! We have used this song to play out scenarios that she may come across in her daily life – at school, church, gymnastics, home and so on. I will ask her which fruit of the Spirit we need to help us through a certain situation, and we will talk about those. Sometimes, we need more than one at a time. Sometimes, we need them all at once. Sometimes, we must ask God for a little help with putting on our patience cloak or our self-control helmet!

Which fruit of the Spirit do you need today?

-Carly, asking God for a little extra patience today
