For a time when our girls were young they enjoyed having a pair of zebra finches and a white parakeet named Snowflake.    From canaries to cockatoos, many people enjoy birds for pets, but I have never personally known anyone who had a pet vulture.  Hi, I’m Tom Ellsworth from Sherwood Oaks Christian Church with a minute message.

Commonly referred to as a buzzard, the vulture’s role is indispensable in keeping this world beautiful.   Due to its ugly appearance, the vulture may not be endearing, but God designed it with unique capabilities for our benefit.  Possessing incredible eyesight, an extraordinary sense of smell and one of the strongest digestive acids in the world, the vulture devours the dead of this planet.  What a nasty place this would be without these winged scavengers.  The vulture is not only a gift to nature, it teaches us an important life lesson.  Outward appearance is no indication of a person’s worth.  In a culture so enamored with looks, it’s vital to remember that inner beauty is far more valuable.  Be appreciative of what others do to make this world a better place.  So the next time you see a vulture soaring on the thermals, just remember to strive for inner beauty as you live out God’s unique role for you!
