Inventor Thomas Edison wrote, “The chief function of the body is to carry the brain around.”  Hi I’m Tom Ellsworth from Sherwood Oaks Christian Church with a minute message.

Smart phones and tablets have made a vast amount of information available to us instantly, but even the most powerful computers cannot begin to match the capacity of the brain.  Recent studies have revealed that the brain of a honeybee can accomplish the same thing as computer mapping programs.  Type in the coordinates and a computer will give you the shortest or quickest route to your destination.  A honey bee, after making multiple stops to collect nectar, can not only compute the shortest but also the most energy-efficient route back to the hive.  Believe it or not, that calculation is accomplished on the fly. After returning, the bee will go through a series of twists and waggles to communicate to the rest of the hive the distance and direction to the desired flowers.  All of that with a brain the size of a grass seed.

If a honey bee can accomplish so much with so little, imagine what we can do when we put our minds to it.  You are carrying around a marvelous gift from God – your brain.  Use it to honor Him!
