It’s beginning to happen all around us – just open your eyes to the beauty. Hi, I’m Tom Ellsworth from Sherwood Oaks Christian Church with a minute message.
For those who have never lived in southern Indiana, they may not quite understand the thrill. The calendar verifies the season but we Hoosiers recognize it more from its color and feel than its date. Even now, the hills and hollows are taking on a different hue. The blooms of summer have given way to a whole new pallet of colors. Every tree takes center stage and every leaf becomes a flower for a few moments in time. The air feels crisper, fresher; the sunlight a bit brighter. To drive through the woods and forests is to visit nature’s museum of art.
Legendary Hoosier journalist William Herschell wrote the poem that not only made him famous nearly a century ago, but is also inscribed on a bronze plaque in the rotunda of our state capitol. It’s simply entitled, “Ain’t God Good to Indiana.” I wholeheartedly agree – and God’s handiwork in nature is never more clearly seen than in the beauty of autumn. If he can paint the world with a dying leaf, imagine what God can do in your life!
